I publish a calendar every year that contains some of my favourite images I took during the past year. This year’s calendar is finally nearing completion with only a few details to look after and a little colour testing to be completed. I hope to begin printing later this week.
I very much enjoy this project as aside from the images I also do the design, file work, printing and bindery. It gives me a chance to use skills I have accumulated over the years. Even more enjoyable is giving the calendars away.
My wife Jane looks after the distribution of the calendars and she gets them out to as many of our friends and acquaintances as she can. Throughout the year we use the calendar as a bit of a calling card as well as an introduction to some of my images. It’s especially popular with cruisers we meet along the coast when we are off on our sailing adventures.
My calendar has found a home in many different countries now and I was recently flattered to hear that some recipients save them from year to year or even have the images framed to hang in their home or cottage. Pretty cool stuff.
All that being said I have to get back at some photo editing and colour correction so I can get this project on the press. For all those that are interested (and I am sure there are many of you) this project has always been printed on a variety of Xerox digital presses. This year is no exception and I will be printing the calendar on a Xerox J75 Digital Press. The calendar is printed on premium 100b Gloss Cover Stock throughout.
If all goes well I will have calendars ready to distribute in time for the Holidays which apparently are only a few days away now.
